Section 1
About this policy.
This Cookie Policy applies to coursefind.app and search.coursefind.app (the “Platform”), operated by Surf Coast IT Solutions Pty Ltd (ABN 73 652 995 018), trading as Coursefind.app.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
Section 2
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognise your device, remember your preferences and understand how the site is being used. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage and pixels; in this policy we refer to all of them simply as “cookies”.
First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by another organisation, for example an embedded video provider.
Section 3
Why we use cookies.
Section 4
Cookies we use.
The cookies on the Platform fall into the four categories below.
| Category | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Required for the Platform to function โ for example session management, security and load balancing. These cannot be switched off. | Session ID, security tokens |
| Analytics / performance | Help us understand how visitors use the Platform โ pages visited, searches made, bounce rate โ in aggregate, so we can improve it. | Google Analytics: _ga, _gid |
| Functional | Remember choices you make, such as your selected country or preferred currency display, for a more personalised experience. | Country / currency preference |
| Third-party | Set by external services whose content we embed or link to, such as homepage video or social platforms. Governed by the third party’s own policies. | YouTube, Google services |
Specific cookie names and providers may change as we update the Platform; this policy is reviewed periodically.
Section 5
How long cookies last.
Cookies last for different lengths of time depending on their purpose.
- Session cookies are temporary and are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies stay on your device until they expire or you delete them. For example, the Google Analytics
_gacookie can last up to two years, while_gidtypically lasts 24 hours.
Section 6
Managing and disabling cookies.
You have several ways to control the cookies on your device.
Cookie banner & settings
Browser settings
Most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies through their settings:
Google Chrome
Mozilla Firefox
Apple Safari
Microsoft Edge
Google Analytics opt-out
Section 7
If you disable cookies.
Section 8
Do Not Track signals & updates.
Do Not Track
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is currently no consistent industry standard for how websites should respond to these signals. Where the law requires us to honour a recognised opt-out preference signal, we will do so.
Changes to this policy
We review this Cookie Policy periodically and may update it to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in the law. The “effective” date shown at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
Frequently asked
Cookie questions, answered.
Do you use cookies for advertising?
No. We use strictly necessary, analytics and functional cookies to run and improve the Platform โ not to build advertising profiles or target ads at you.
Can I use Coursefind without accepting cookies?
Yes. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the site to function, but you can reject non-essential (analytics and functional) cookies and still search and compare courses. Some conveniences, like remembering your country or currency, may not work.
How do I delete cookies that are already on my device?
You can clear cookies through your browser settings at any time โ see the Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge links in the “Managing and disabling cookies” section above.
What is the _ga cookie?
The _ga cookie is set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and measure aggregate usage. It can last up to two years. You can opt out across all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Do third parties set cookies through Coursefind?
Yes โ when we embed or link to services such as YouTube videos or other Google services, those providers may set their own cookies, governed by their own policies. We don’t control third-party cookies.
